Pic is one of my favorite pet. The idolomantis diabolica, which I no longer keep.
This is a beautiful specimen. I've never seen one like this. It is hard to believe that there are so many different species of mantids in the World. Here in Missouri we have only two species, the Carolina and the Chinese. Of the two only the Carolina is native. The Chinese Mantid which is much larger are far more common to see. Seems the interloper is usurping the native.
ReplyDeleteThat's right Shelly. I believed there are 2500 species of praying mantis in the world. There probably is Europeaan mantis (Mantis religiosa) in your area too.
